Coagh man accused of punching driver and attacking car with iron bar in Cookstown

A Coagh man has been accused of driving on purpose into another car, punching the driver and taking an iron bar to attack the vehicle.

The case of Stephen McKnight, 32, from Main Street, was heard at Dungannon Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.

McKnight is alleged to have committed a string of offences including criminal damage, driving while unfit, possessing a Class B controlled drug, possessing an offensive weapon, namely a bar, and unlawful common assault.

He is accused of driving his Peugeot 306 into the victim’s car on August 18 at Fairhill Road, Cookstown.

The case was adjourned for one week by District Judge John Meehan.
