Coalisland fast food outlet robbed by gunmen

Detectives are appealing for witnesses following an armed robbery of a fast food outlet in the Barrack Street area of Coalisland last night, Sunday 31 January.

It was report that shortly after 7.30pm two males, one armed with a suspected firearm, entered the premises and threatened staff. One of the males is described as being aged in his 20’s and of heavy build. The member of staff was not injured as a result of the incident. The males are reported to have made off in a white coloured Lexus car. Nothing was stolen as a result of the incident.

A 26 year old man was later arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm in suspicious circumstances. He was interviewed and subsequently released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Detective Sergeant Paul Murphy is appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information that could assist with the investigation to contact Detectives at Cookstown Police Station on the non-emergency number 101. Information can also be passed anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
