CoC13 gets set for Celtronic

LONDONDERRY UK City of Culture 2013 will become a dance floor next week (June 26-30) as the biggest names in electronic music converge on the city for Ireland’s premier electronic music festival Celtronic 2013.

This will be the thirteenth edition of the acclaimed festival which has been described as ‘Ireland’s answer to Sonar’ and regularly attracts thousands of music fans to the city of Derry.

This year’s festival has added significance with Londonderry’s City of Culture celebrations in full swing.

Some of Londonderry’s most historic buildings will be used at the festival including recently refurbished 19th Century theatre, St Columbs Hall, ex Presbyterian church and stained glass factory, The Glassworks and former convent, The Playhouse.

Other clubs and venues that will host events include The Nerve Centre, The Craft Village, The Gasyard Centre, Sandinos and Masons.

Among the musical highlights are live performances from New York house and disco duo, METRO AREA, internationally celebrated producer/composer HENRIK SCHWARZ and Mercury Music Prize nominee JON HOPKINS.

DJ sets will come from International Deejay Gigolo’s main man DJ HELL, Swiss techno superstar DEETRON, Barcelona based producer and DJ, JOHN TALABOT, Russian superstar DJ, NINA KRAVIZ, LCD Soundsystem’s PAT MAHONEY and the North West debut of ANDREW WEATHERALL and SEAN JOHNSTON’s latest project A LOVE FROM OUTER SPACE.

Festival regular TOM MIDDLETON will return with a number of projects including a DJ set at Celtronic Kidz, a dance event for 0-4 year olds.

Ireland’s constantly evolving electronic music scene will be well represented at Celtronic 2013 with live performances coming from a range of artists including BOXCUTTER, KAB DRIVER, RYAN VAIL, DOLLFACE DEVEREAUX and DEFCON and showcases from clubnights including DEEP FRIED FUNK, AUDIO ASYLUM, REVERB, BEKUZ and DIVIDE.
