Coca-cola in the running for business in the community award

LISBURN based Coca-Cola HBC Northern Ireland, which employs 1100 people, has been short listed for Business in the Community’s ‘Workplace Health and Wellbeing Award’ at its 2011 Regional Recognition Awards for corporate responsibility.

The company has taken a number of positive steps to enhance the health and wellbeing of its employees.

In addition to standard benefits such as the provision of a healthcare scheme for all employees and their families and the introduction of an occupational health service, a number of health and wellbeing road shows have been hosted.

These provide employees with nutritional advice, drug and alcohol awareness, blood pressure and cholesterol testing, smoking cessation guidance and a range of complementary therapies such as Indian head massage and acupressure back massage.

Denise Collins, Organisation Development Manager for Coca-Cola, said the company is extremely proud the efforts have been recognised by Business in the Community.

“Coca-Cola has previously been named Business in the Community ‘Responsible Company of the Year’ and has also won a coveted ‘Big Tick’ award for ‘Healthy Communities’ for three consecutive years. We are delighted to have now been recognised for our efforts in the area of workplace health and wellbeing as well.

“There is sure to be a lot of competition amongst Northern Ireland’s responsible businesses but we’re keeping our fingers crossed for the awards night.”
