Code of Practice for Off-licences

MOYLE Community Safety Partnership is proposing to introduce an 'Off Licence Code of Practice' for the District.

A Moyle Council report said: ‘All Off Licences in the area are currently being offered staff training to ensure their staff have all the current information in relation to their legal responsibilities with regards to alcohol off sales and in particular the consequences of the sale of alcohol to minors.

Adoption of the Code of Practice will be voluntary, however, it is hoped that those premises that receive the training will recognise the value in adopting the Code’s recommendations.

‘It is hoped this initiative will reduce opportunities for young people to gain access to alcohol and thus reduce the instances of underage drinking in the area. The initiative will also be endorsed by Northern Drug & Alcohol Co-ordination Team and the Police,’ said the report.
