Coleraine businesses urged to enter NI Director of Year Awards

BUSINESS leaders in Coleraine are being urged to have their success recognised by entering the 2012-13 Institute of Directors (IoD) NI Director of the Year Awards.

The IoD NI Director of the Year awards, sponsored by Abbey Bond Lovis, reward excellence, showcase leadership and set the standard for directors across the UK.

Applicants are invited to enter across eight categories, which encompass all sectors of the economy. Non-executive directors are being recognised in a new category.

Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster said: “Northern Ireland has some of the world’s leading businesses led by exceptional individuals and it is fitting that the successes of our directors are celebrated and recognised.

“An IoD Director of the Year Award is one of the most prestigious honours for business leaders. Rewarding their outstanding achievements reinforces the importance of best practice for business growth among local directors.”

IoD NI Divisional Director Linda Brown said: “Membership of the IoD covers the full spectrum of the Northern Ireland economy with business leaders from farming to high tech manufacturing, from micro businesses to large companies, and including leaders of public and third sector organisations. These categories are reflected in the Director of the Year Awards, which are open to all leaders whether they are IoD members or not.

“The comprehensive judging process identifies the best of the best business leaders within Northern Ireland who will then be nominated to compete against their counterparts from across the UK.

“Last year Northern Ireland nominees won two categories at the national awards and were runners up in a further four categories, proving once again the strength and talent of our local directors.

“The IoD continues to play an important role in equipping business leaders with the skills, knowledge and professional qualifications, through the Chartered Director programme, to enable them to grow their business.”

Maurice Boyd, Managing Director of Abbey Bond Lovis and principal sponsor commented: “We take great pride in our special relationship with the IoD, so to once again be associated with these awards, which recognise and celebrate the extraordinary achievements of many of the best directors from across the country, is a great privilege.”

The IoD Director of the Year Awards, which take place on 30th November, are open to all business leaders in Coleraine and across the rest of Northern Ireland, whether they are IoD members or not.
