Coleraine firm celebrates after achieving The Queen’s Award for Enterprise

An innovative Coleraine firm is celebrating after being awarded the highest accolade for businesses in the UK.

ATG Services (Ireland) Ltd – which is part of ATG Group – is one of only four companies in Northern Ireland to achieve The Queen’s Award for Enterprise 2020.

The company, based in the Loughanhill Industrial Estate, is a pioneer in environmental and waste solutions. It offers a range of services, including groundbreaking techniques to help the construction industry treat contaminated soil to reduce the amount that is sent to landfill.

ATG Group, which is made up of five companies, achieved The Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development after being commended for leading the way in sustainability in its sector.

The firm’s efforts to reduce its impact on the environment was also praised along with its work to foster community sustainability through its charity Ashes to Gold and for its social outreach programmes to address mental health and disabilities.

Company founder and Managing Director Dr Mark McKinney said the award was recognition for ATG Group’s employees and their hard work.

He said: “It is an honour to be one of only four companies in Northern Ireland to achieve the accolade. As the first to reach the title in Co. Londonderry for three years, The Queen’s Award recognises the hard work of every member of our team. We are proud of the effort they have made to make us a leader in our field.”

ATG Group was set up in 2006 and has grown across the UK and Ireland with offices in Lurgan, Dublin, Edinburgh and Winchester.

Its pioneering techniques have been used to deal with contaminated land and deal with invasive species, such as Japanese Knotweed, across the UK and Ireland. It also offers CPD accredited training courses to help its clients understand more about sustainable development.

Through its charity Ashes to Gold, it helps those less fortunate in the community through a range of projects to help restore and rebuild people’s lives. ATG Group donates 10% of its net profits to the charity, which includes support for the long-term unemployed and those with mental and physical disabilities.

Dr Mark added: “The Queen’s Award for Enterprise is the highest accolade for businesses in the UK and we believe it will help the business grow further. We are now part of an elite group of companies and this award shows we are best in field.”
