Coleraine is 'most improved' town in the Province

THE cream of the crop of Northern Ireland's gardening talent was celebrated on Thursday at the awards presentation ceremony for the 2009 Translink Ulster in Bloom competition.

The 31st year of the prestigious annual competition attracted 169 entries demonstrating an enduring passion for horticulture across local cities, towns, villages, amenities, businesses, bus and rail stations.

Coleraine picked up an award for Most Improved Town in Northern Ireland.

Judging took place in July and August last year.

The judging panel comprised of ten expert judges including professional horticulturists, lecturers, members of Conservation Volunteers, the NI Rose Society and NI Guild of Flower Arrangers.
