Coleraine lodges to be part of special Somme parade

The County Londonderry Grand Orange Lodge will be holding a special church parade and service to mark the 100th Anniversary of the Battle of he Somme later this month.

Sunday 22nd May has been set by the Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland for all County lodges to mark this anniversary.

The District lodges that make up the County Londonderry Grand Orange Lodge, will join with the members of host District Limavady LOL No.6 for a special church service in Drumachose Parish Church (Christchurch)

Also joining the Brethren from County Londonderry will be members of the Junior Orange Order, the Association of Loyal Orange woman of Ireland and the members from the City of Londonderry Grand Orange Lodge.

The parade will form up at 2.45pm on the Moneyrannel Road and make its way to the church moving off at 3.20pm via Baranailt Road, Lisnakilly Road crossing the Roe Bridge where at the War Memorial Wreathes will be left senior officers before continuing on Catherine Street, Linenhall Street and Main Street before finally arriving at Drumachose Parish Church for a service of Worship commencing at 4pm.

Following the service, the parade will reform at approx 5pm and return to the dispersal point at Moneyrannel Road via Main Street, Connell Street, Irish Green Street, Catherine Street Lisnakilly Road, Baranailt Road, Moneyrannel Road.

The County Grand Lodge Officers look forward to good support from all over the County of Londonderry at this event and hope the members of the general public will turnout in large numbers as well to witness this special event.
