Coleraine man charged with being disorderly at hospital

A Coleraine man has been charged with being disorderly at the town's Causeway Hospital.

Dean Heatherington (20), of Long Commons, appeared at Coleraine Magistrates Court last Monday charged with the offence which allegedly happened the day before. He was also charged with assaulting and resisting police officers and the theft of a bottle of vodka from an off sales.

The court was told an arrest warrant was activated at the hospital.A police officer told the court she believed she could connect the accused to the charges.

He is further charged with being disorderly at Kingsgate Street, Coleraine, on April 27 this year.

A defence solicitor said the accused has alcohol issues.

Heatherington was released on his own bail of £100 and is not allowed to be intoxicated in public or be in licensed premises and has a night time curfew.

His case was adjourned to July.

* A Portrush man committed driving offences on Christmas Day.

Lawrence Charles Hanson (55), of Glenarm Avenue, was not present at Coleraine Magistrates Courtlast Monday and District Judge Liam McStay found him guilty via tendered evidence.

The defendant had been charged with driving without insurance; being an unaccompanied L driver and absence of L plates at Coleraine Road, Portrush, on December 25 last year.

His case was adjourned to next month for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.
