Coleraine nominations wanted for Justice Community Awards

JUSTICE Minster David Ford has launched the annual Justice in the Community Awards.

The awards are now in their second year and the Minister has urged the people of Coleraine to get involved with the Justice in the Community Awards by nominating someone who they feel has made an outstanding contribution in helping to make Coleraine a safer place.

Mr Ford said: “There are many exceptional people within our community working selflessly to make local communities safer, reduce offending or support victims of crime for the benefit of the entire community. But their commitment and determination often goes unrecognised.

“The successful introduction of the Justice Awards last year highlighted the commitment and work of volunteers and statutory organisations and I’m sure there are many more who would be deserving of an award as Justice Champion.”

Awards will be made to three Justice Champions who are working in any part of Northern Ireland to support the delivery and effectiveness of justice.

The awards will be to the value of £500 for equipment or services to benefit the winner’s local community. Highly commended awards may also be made at the discretion of the judging panel.

The Minister has urged the Coleraine public to get involved and submit nominations.
