Coleraine has just been named the THIRD LEAST trendy place to live in the UK, according to a new survey.

A statistical analysis of towns and cities across the country by The Daily Mirror cited just two places less hip than Coleraine - Barrow-in-Furness in Cumbria and Tendring in north east Essex.

The newspaper said: “Our data unit has been hard at work in deciphering the key indicators for what makes a town contemporary, hip and stylish. Now the results are in - and Manchester has emerged as the number one place in the UK to live if you enjoy such a lifestyle.”

After Manchester, Brighton and Hove was found to be the second trendiest place in the UK followed by Cambridge in third and London in fourth.

Bristol, Nottingham, Sheffield and Oxford also made the top ten while East Dorset was the least trendy place in the country according to the analysis.

The Mirror said that the rankings are based on five key indicators: How many people are moving to the area; The proportion of the population aged 20-35; The number of new start-up companies; The number of businesses working in the arts; and the number of top-rated restaurants.

Each area was given a score out of 100 for these measures relative to the performance of all parts of the country. A final ‘Trendiness’ score was then calculated by the Trinity Mirror Data Unit.
