Coleraine petrol bomb attack condemned

An SDLP MLA has condemned a petrol bomb attack that injured a woman in her home in Coleraine.

The 41-year-old received burns to her legs during the attack in the Wheatfield Gardens area at around 10.30pm on Tuesday night. The woman is currently being treated in hospital but is not thought to be seriously injured.

Her five-year-old daughter, who was also in the house at the time, escaped unhurt.

Police said a front window was smashed and the petrol bomb hurled inside the property.

SDLP East Derry MLA John Dallat has hit out at those responsible for the attack.

Mr Dallat said: “There is no reason, no excuse why this lady should be attacked like this.

“I would appeal to anyone with any information, no matter how trivial they feel it is, to get in touch with the CID at Coleraine PSNI Station immediately.”

Police are establishing a motive and want to speak to two men seen running from the house.
