Coleraine Provost role for Professor Heenan

PROFESSOR Deirdre Heenan has been appointed to the new post of Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Communication) and Provost (Coleraine and Magee) within the University of Ulster.

The new post has been created as part of a restructuring of senior management portfolios within the University.

As Pro-Vice-Chancellor with responsibility for communication, Professor Heenan will lead in the promotion of the University locally, nationally and internationally.

In the role of Provost for the University’s Coleraine and Magee campuses, she will lead in the advancement of the social and cultural life of the two North West campuses and work in partnership with key stakeholders to deliver the University’s North West development plan.

As part of the restructuring, Professor Alastair Adair becomes Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Development) and Provost (Belfast and Jordanstown).

Professor Heenan said: “I welcome this exciting appointment and look forward to the opportunity of promoting the Universitygenerally, and its campuses in the North West.

“I have no doubt that the interest of the North West will be best served by a more integrated development of the two campuses.”

Vice Chancellor Professor Richard Barnett said: “Professor Heenan has demonstrated immense energy and commitment in her current role, and I look forward to working with her in her new role.”

Professor Heenan will take up her new position next month.
