Coleraine set to host large County parade on Twelfth

Henry Dunbar will join more than 60 lodges taking part in the procession on the north coast, with large crowds – including many tourists - expected to line the mouth of the River Bann to witness the colour and pageantry of the day.

As is tradition, members of Coleraine District will be joined by brethren from Limavady, the City of Londonderry, Macosquin and lodges from the north of Donegal. Among those taking part will be Orangemen from Convoy and Newtowncunningham in the Republic. Both their halls were destroyed in arson attacks last year. Also stepping out will be members of the Ladies Association and a number of Junior lodges.

The parade will assemble at Killowen Street at 11.30am.

Approximately 50 bands, including pipe, accordion and flute, will head off through the town, via Waterside, Old Bridge, Circular Road, Queen Street, Church Street, New Row, Dunmore Street, Blindgate Street, Beresford Road, Brook Street, Bushmills Road,The Crescent and Ballycastle Road to the demonstration field at the Showgrounds.

A religious service will be held with the main address being delivered by Mr Dunbar, who is a regular visitor to the Province on the Twelfth. The proceedings will be chaired by Coleraine District Master, George Duddy.
