Coleraine to hold Armistice Day parade

THE Armistice Day Parade will leave Coleraine Royal British Legion next Friday (November 11) at 10.30am.

All members, ex-service personnel and regimental associations to meet at Coleraine British Legion at 10.15am ready for the march off.

There will be a short service at the War Memorial before returning to the Legion clubrooms for light refreshments.

On Sunday, November 13 all personnel to meet at the RBL again at 10.15am ready for march off to the War Memorial at 10.30am.

The Remembrance Service will be held in Killowen Parish Church before the return parade back to the British Legion where refreshments will be served.

Poppy wreaths can be collected from Coleraine RBL on the following times: Friday, November 4: 1pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm; Saturday, November 5: 2pm to 5pm; Monday, November 7: 1pm to 4pm; Tuesday, November 8: 1pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm; Wednesday, November 9: 1pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm; Thursday, November 10: 1pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm; Friday, November 11 - 1pm to 4pm; Saturday, November 12: 1pm to 5pm.

Coleraine British Legion will be open on Sunday, November 13 at 8am for the collection of wreaths.

Meanwhile, the AGM of the Coleraine branch of Coleraine British Legion will be held in the clubrooms on Wednesday, November 16 at 7.30pm.

All members are requested to attend as their vote is important for the welfare of the branch.

Coleraine Borough Council’s main ceremony for Remembrance Sunday will be held this year in Portstewart on Sunday, November 13 and it will be led by the Mayor of Coleraine, alderman Maurice Bradley.

The Deputy Mayor of Coleraine, councillor William King, will be attending the ceremony in Coleraine, and council representatives will be attending other Remembrance ceremonies in Coleraine, Kilrea, Garvagh, Aghadowey and Castlerock.
