Coleraine to Londonderry rail line upgrade on track

LIMAVADY Sinn Féin councillor Cathal Ó hOisín has held a meeting with Department of Regional Transport and Translink on the upgrade of Londondonderry to Coleraine railway line.

Mr Ó hOisín said: “I held a very constructive meeting with representatives of Translink and DRD about the upgrade of the Derry to Coleraine railway.

“Whilst I was encouraged to hear that the upgrade was not only proceeding on time, but could actually be completed by March 2013, a month ahead of schedule I impressed upon the DRD and Translink the importance of having this work completed in time for The City of Culture in 2013.

“This is an important infrastructural link between the North West, the North Coast and Belfast so it is important that the highest standard of service is available.

“This upgrade is the first step in bringing the railway line into the 21st century and I would like to thank the representatives of Translink and DRD for taking the time to update us on the progress.”
