Coleraine Young Farmers finish winter programme

COLERAINE Young Farmers Club held their last club meeting of their winter programme with a Travelling Supper.

This last meeting saw 40 members travel to three houses to enjoy a starter, main course and dessert. Many thanks go out to Chantelle Murdoch, Kathryn Smyth and Hilary Cameron for preparing all the food and providing a lovely meal. The Young Farmers would like to take this opportunity to thank all members and their families for supporting them in another successful year.

The stock-judging is now well under way with the dairy stock-judging competition taking place recently. The club cups were held at Steven Moore’s last Tuesday and the results were as follows:

12-14: 1, Laura Conn; 2, Andrew Moore; 3, Emma Jayne Hutchinson.

14-16: 1, Harry Calvin; 2, ,Ruth Adams; 3, Rachael Lamont.

16-18: 1, Ryan Adams.

18-21: 1, Michael Smyth; 2, Steven Moore; 3, Russell Smyth.

21-25 1, John Cochrane; 2, Kathryn Taylor; 3, Philip Henry and David Hall.

The club would like to extend their thanks to the Moore family for allowing this event to take place on their farm. They also thank coaches Kenny and Gary Watson.

The Co.Londonderry heats were held the following Thursday at Arnold Boyce’s farm, Garvagh. Eleven members were placed in this event and will progress to the Northern Ireland Finals in Greenmount on July 19. Results:

14-16: 2, Louise Conn.

16-18: 2, Joanne Smyth; 4, Callum Lamont.
