The figure, including English and Maths, is up on last year’s results.

“We are confident that these results will maintain our status as one of the top performing non-selective schools in greater Belfast and that it will also keep us in the top 30 schools in Northern Ireland,” said principal Kathleen Gormley.

“With these excellent results and a growing number of pupils achieving English and Maths we look forward to welcoming a sixth form of over 200 pupils who will have the choice of studying 31 subjects across three pathways which will make them university ready, further education ready or work ready at the end of their Hazelwood journey.”

The Whitewell Road school’s top GCSE results were achieved in Science, Engineering, ICT, Moving Image Production as well as Spanish, Sports Studies and Religious Education.

“Congratulations are due to all our Year 12 students, their teachers and also to their parents for their continued support,” Mrs Gormley continued.

“Combining these tremendous results with excellent careers guidance and an evolving curriculum for all, means that our students are well prepared for sixth form and the career opportunities that await them both in Northern Ireland and abroad.”
