College head Robinson hits out at SELB decision

Lurgan College principal Trevor Robinson said he was “disappointed but not surprised” after the Southern Education and Library Board voted on Wednesday for Option A.

Mr Robinson has refused to throw in the towel in his attempt to prevent what he has labelled comprehensive education from being introduced into Craigavon.

Option A advocates the creation of a bilateral school in Lurgan incorporating both Lurgan College and the senior high school.

Mr Robinson said, “This is only a proposal and it will be subject to a full public consultation – it will be flatly rejected by the community and the Minister’s pledge not to impose solutions on communities will be sorely tested. I look forward to engaging with all stakeholders in the coming months when the voice of the people will be heard.”
