College hosts waste management event

SOUTH Eastern Regional College (SERC) recently hosted a waste management talk.

Organised by SERC student company Bellisle Recycling and Graham Construction, the format of the day was designed to enhance learning by giving students the opportunity to learn first-hand how Graham Construction champion the use of sustainable construction techniques.

The event, presented by guest speaker Lianne Rafferty from Graham Construction, gave students an insight into the importance of waste control and recycling within the construction sector whilst also giving them an opportunity to talk to the engineers working within the industry. Lianne also explained Grahams commitment to the environment and how they incorporate this into their daily operations.

Kim McCoy Johnston, SERC HND Construction Coordinator said: “The presentation was a unique opportunity for the students to learn the importance of sustainability. These visits are hugely beneficial to the students and complement their studies by providing them with a practical view of the construction industry. We would like to thank Graham Construction for their time and support in the many visits they have provided to SERC throughout the year.”
