College pupils take on Euroscola challenge

A GROUP of students from St. Killian’s College, Garron Tower, enjoyed a visit to the Euroscola event in The European Parliament in Strasbourg recently.

Nichola McNeill won the trip for the group after entering a UK-wide competition involving the use of languages.

The students worked with other young people from 14 different European countries and had the opportunity to discuss important issues such as “The Place of European Values in the World”, “Migration and Integration”, “Environment and renewable energies” and “Democracy and Citizenship” and other issues that are affecting all members of the EU today.

Students also had a question-and-answer session in various official EU languages, and St Killian’s sixth former Emily Campbell addressed the Parliament in Spanish on behalf of her group.
