Colourful displays praised in anniversary year

THE members of Banbridge Horticultural Society have been praised by local Ulster Unionist MLA and member of the Stormont Agriculture and Rural Development Committee Jo-Anne Dobson.

Mrs Dobson praised the dedication of local members at their annual Show which took place in Bannside Presbyterian Church Hall on Saturday.

She said, “Having recently celebrated their 50th Anniversary the Society is building on its track record of growing success.

“Every year the members treat us to a colourful display of their floral and vegetable horticultural skills.

“I congratulate all the exhibitors and prize winners on a job well done and as always the event was well organised and attended.

“I was especially pleased to meet with 10-year-old Chloe Clydesdale who attends Edenderry Primary School. Chloe won the Pedan Cup with her excellent arrangement of flowers in cup cakes and well done to the pupils and staff at Donard School who picked up a number of excellent awards.

“I was delighted to meet up again with many of the members who recently received medals in recognition of their long service - their rewards are richly deserved. I wish the society and its members continued success in their future and hope that, like their flowers, the society continues to grow and flourish.”
