Commemoration tour to Somme battlefield

Many brave Ulstermen made the supreme sacrifice on this day in 1916. One of the most famous being Private William McFadzean, along with many others from Lurgan and the surrounding villages, with a special mention to Dollingstown where every house is said to have mourned the loss of a loved one. This is remembered on the Local Lodge’s Banner.

The tour includes coach to Dublin, flights to Belgium with three nights bed and breakfast and an evening meal, then on to France for two nights bed and breakfast with evening meal.

The tour will visit many of the famous sites and battle fields in both Countries. Including Tyne Cot, the biggest of the Commonwealth War Graves Cemeteries, the Menim Gate in Ypres were the last post is played every night throughout the year, which is a very humbling experience to attend. In France we will visit the world famous Vimy Ridge were so many Canadians lost their lives. We will also visit the town of Albert, which was destroyed in the Great War. Finally we will be at The Somme for the 100th anniversary were we will attend Commemoration Services to mark this historic event at The Thiepval Memorial to the missing, were 90,000 names are recorded and any member of the Orange Order will then parade to the Ulster Tower. This unique opportunity to attend the 100th Commemoration of the Battle of the Somme and as most hotels are already booked we can only cater for a small number.
