Committee marks 40 years of promoting road safety

The event, held at Mossley Mill on Friday, April 1, recognised the contribution made by the members of the committee, both past and present, towards promoting road safety in the area over the past four decades.

The Mayor praised the members’ voluntary efforts to make the community safer and thanked chairperson Pat Martin for her ongoing commitment to the committee.

“I was delighted to join members of the Newtownabbey Road Safety Committee to celebrate their 40th anniversary,” Cllr Hogg commented. “Members of the committee have devoted much voluntary time and effort to promote the importance of road safety. Through the various events and initiatives which the committee organises during the year, I have no doubt that they have raised the profile of road safety and made our borough a safer place for all of us to live in.

More than 25 guests attended the luncheon, including members of the Road Safety Council of Northern Ireland.

During the event, gifts were presented to Pat Martin (NRSC chairperson) and Joan Hutton (former chairperson) to thank them for their work with Newtownabbey Road Safety Committee over the years.
