Anne Patterson picked up the Community Champion accolade, which celebrates colleagues who have gone above and beyond to bring their store and local community together.

An employee at Sainsbury’s on Rodgers Quay, Anne can trace her family history back many generations, inspiring her to help her local community.

Thanks to her efforts, non-profit organisation The Café Rose in Sunnylands has been made a Food Donation partner for the store and receives surplus products on a daily basis.

Anne established a partnership with 7th Heaven Animal Trust, setting up a Pet Food Donation point under their Pet Food Bank initiative. The scheme aims to help more people keep their pets rather than give them up for re-homing by providing a limited supply of pet food during a time of financial hardship.

She also volunteers her time at Carrickfergus Borough Council’s monthly Super Sundays Beach Clean.

“I’m thrilled to receive an award for doing something I love,” said Anne. “Carrickfergus means so much to me and being able to combine my job with helping out in the community is fantastic. We now have close relationships with The Café Rose and local schools. I’d like to thank my colleagues who have helped make it all happen.”
