Community Festival Funding

ballymoney Borough Council has approved Community Festival Funding to eight local groups.

During a recent Leisure and Amenities Committee meeting, members heard that nine applications under the 2011/12 Community Festival Fund Grant Scheme were received by the closing date of 6th May 2011.

The report explained: ‘The applications have been checked for completeness and assessed and scored in accordance with the criteria set out in the guidance notes for the Community Festival Fund.

‘The Director advised that the 2011/12 Community Festivals Fund budget is £8,000.00 of which 50% is grant aided by the Department of Culture, Arts & Leisure. She also advised that £650.00 of the budget would be used to meet administration costs. This left a fund of £7,350.00 to be allocated. The Director circulated a schedule detailing all the applications including the name of the festival, duration, events to be held and the scoring results. She advised that the application from Ballymoney Community Resource Centre did not meet the criteria of the fund.’

Ballybogey community Association, Community Week £925

Ballymaconnelly renewal Group, Community Festival £900

Cloughmills Community Action Team, Celebrating Local Success Festival £950

Dervock & District Community Association, An Olympian STEP Forward £1000

Dunloy Accordian Band Society, Ulster Scots Festival £850

Glebeside Community Association, Community Week 2011 £925

Kingdom of Dalriada Ulster Scots Society, Ulster Scots Festival £1000

Rasharkin Community Association, Funday Festival £800

Cllr John Finlay also stressed the importance of Point III within the Conditions of Grant, advising groups that they may not be considered for funding for next year if the conditions are not met.
