Community festival planned

FOLLOWING on from the recent film premiere of Wasted in the Odeon cinema Belfast, the North Lurgan Young Leaders are on the move again.

On Saturday, August 28, they are hosting a community festival in Lord Lurgan Memorial Park from 1pm-9pm.

This is an event for the whole family with theme park rides, bouncy castles, children’s activities, face painting, live music and dance providing something for everyone to enjoy.

The hosting of the event, management and attractions has all been developed through the young people under guidance from project partners, Cooperation Ireland, Active Communities Network, local community stakeholders and Craigavon Borough Council.

It enables the young leaders to continue on their own personal development journeys through interaction with residents, community and local business, while undertaking and developing event planning, marketing and communications skills.

The North Lurgan Young Leaders programme is the platform for them to challenge themselves and how they progress in life, to raise aspirations and broaden their horizons both locally and nationally. This programme is their opportunity to promote the positive role young people can play in Northern Ireland.

The community festival is the next phase of this journey and everyone is welcome to attend.
