Community Fun Day

A WEALTH of activities are planned for the annual Caw Community Fun Day, which will take place on Saturday next, July 30.

It is the first time that the initiative is being jointly hosted by Caw Nelson Drive Action Group and Caw 2000, and a large turnout of people is expected for the events and activities.

There are three separate strands to this year’s extravaganza, according to Caw Nelson Drive co-ordinator, Linda Watson, who said the three-hour event would get underway with a car boot sale in Masie’s Square at 11am.

There is also a laser tag game for little people, and a bungee run for all those who think they are game enough!

More unusual activities will include archery demonstrations and taster sessions.

As is customary, the event will include a series competitions to give the day an edge.

“We will be holding all our usual races for boys and girls, so there should be lots of thrills and spills with that, and we hope lots of parents and grandparents come along to cheer their children and grandchildren on,” said Linda.

“We will also be staging our usual competitions, including the Bonny Baby, Little Miss Caw and Caw Master Muscles.

“We will be taking names for the competitions from 11am until 12pm, and judging will take place at 12.30pm, with the winners being announced and the prizes presented at around 1.30pm.

“At 2pm we will be having the third strand of our Fun Day, which is the official opening of the Kilfennan Football Pitch by our Mayor, Maurice Devenney, and this will be followed by a pre-season friendly between Caw FC and Institute FC,” said Linda.
