Community grants to improve health and wellbeing projects

GRANTS of up to £1000 are now available to community based groups who wish to involve their community in health and wellbeing activities.

The grants programme, funded by the Public Health Agency (PHA) is open to community groups in the Coleraine, Magherafelt and Cookstown areas.

The Networks Involving Communities in Health Improvement Project (NICHI) has been supporting groups locally to identify health and well being concerns such as physical activity, nutrition, community safety and the environment.

This funding is an opportunity for groups to build on their experience and skills to address some of these issues. Groups accessing the funding will be able to carry out their activity within a specific timeframe and priority will be given to groups who support areas of higher deprivation.

The funding will focus on the key PHA priorities e.g. Early Years/families, Building Sustainable Communities, Making Healthier Choices, Older People, Disability and Ethnic Minorities. Organisations may apply for funding of £200 to £1000. However it is likely that an average of £500 per group may be allocated.

For more information or to request an application form call the NICHI Project Officer Ann Marie McStocker at our Magherafelt office or on 028 793 00726 for more information. The grants are open for applications until Friday, October 19.
