Community Hall in need of refurbishment

At the invitation of Jonathan Craig MLA and Mayor of the City of Lisburn Councillor Margaret Tolerton, the DUP Minister Nelson McCausland, saw first-hand the work needed to improve Moss Side Community Hall.

Mr Craig said: “I would like to thank the Minister for taking time to meet the local community association of Seymour Hill and for taking on board the community concerns regarding the need for the Moss Side Community Hall to be refurbished.

“The hall has been a vital resource for the young people of Seymour Hill and up until recent damage to the hall, was being used on a daily bases, running many youth programs in the area.”

He added: “ Following our discussions with the Minister and the Housing Executive I welcome their commitment regarding planned work to the building that will lead to this much loved hall being used once again by Seymour Hill and Conway Community Associations.”

Mrs Tolerton said: “Over the next few months, Seymour Hill will see major investment and the renewal in the area, resulting in millions of pounds of public money being injected.

“As well as money being spent on the Mosside Community Hall from the Housing Executive, eight Million pounds being spent on social housing for local families, £500,000 from Lisburn City Council working with Seymour Hill and Conway Community Association, we are seeing the transformation and much needed investment in the Seymour Hill area.”

Debbie Guy from Seymour Hill and Conway Community Association said, “ Over the last few years a lot of work has been going on behind the scenes, working closely with Jonathan and Margaret and many statutory agencies, which will result in the community in Seymour Hill grow from strength to strength and the much needed investment delivered for our area.”
