Community in shock at '˜tragic waste' of Dungannon teenager's life

David Shrestha, a Royal School student who played Rugby with Dungannon’s Bluebulls and was a keen swimmer, has been described as “much loved by all”.

A spokesperson for the PSNI said: “Police attended the sudden death of a teenage boy in Dungannon yesterday morning, Saturday, September 10. The death is not being treated as suspicious.”

It is understood that David’s school will be opening its doors today (Sunday, September 11) between 2-4pm “for anyone to drop in and be together” while mourning David - with staff and a counsellor also being made available.

A post on the school rugby club’s page said: “We learned today (Saturday) of the passing of RSD pupil David Shrestha Y11. Our thoughts and prayers are with David’s family at this difficult time.

“School will be open tomorrow (Sunday) 2.00–4.00pm for anyone to drop in and be together. Staff and counsellor available.”

Other Royal School sports clubs have echoed these sentiments, while the Royal School Dungannon Parent Friends and Teacher Association has also paid respects to David and his family on Facebook.

Their post said: “The PTFA group extends their most sincere condolences to the Shrestha family on the loss of their wonderful son and brother David.”

A post on Dungannon Rugby Club’s page also said: “All at Dungannon RFC would like to extend their sympathy to the Shrestha Family at this sad time. The family is well known at Dungannon and David will be sadly missed in the blue and white. The family is in our thoughts and prayers.”
