Community mourns death of brave Caiden

The six-year-old lost his long fight against cancer on Saturday when he passed away peacefully at hospital in Belfast.

The son of Raymond and Kathy, and brother of Ellie, Caiden was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma in 2008 when he was just five months’ old.

In the years that followed, the little boy endured intense chemotherapy, total body radiation and a stem cell transplant. He also had a bone marrow transplant in May of last year.

Last month, Caiden’s mother Kathy shared the emotive details of his cancer journey in support of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, joining forces with local charity, Cancer Fund for Children, to raise awareness of how the illness affects the whole family and what support is available.

On Saturday, it was stated on the ‘Caiden Tang Journey’ facebook page: “My beautiful baby boy gained his angel wings this morning and slept peacefully in my arms surrounded by our wee family! He fought the hardest battle and words can’t describe the feeling in my heart!!

“I am incredibly proud of Caiden and thankful for the six years we had with him despite a lot of hard times we smiled through them all...Sleep tight wee sweetheart, you took a huge piece of me when u left today and I know you will be with me every step of the way!

“Love you millions Batman”.

Another post at the weekend stated: “Thanku to everyone for all your sincere thoughts at this very difficult time.”

It was stated yesterday (Monday) that the family’s celebration of Caiden’s life will begin at his home today (Tuesday) from 1pm and will be followed by a service in All Saints Church, Ballymena, tomorrow (Wednesday) at 12pm.

The post added: “Caiden has stole the hearts of many people with his bravery,incredibly infectious personality and bubbly wee smile and he will be given an unbelievable send off worthy of true superheroes.”
