The members of Foyle Family History Society will host a talk by local author and historian, Sean McMahon, entitled ‘A View the Foyle Commanding: A Portrait of Foyle College’ on Monday evening next.

The talk will be on Monday next, November 10, at 7pm, at the Central Library Lecture Room.

The title of the discussion is the title of the recently published official history of Foyle College, which Sean compiled and edited for the forthcoming 400th anniversary of the school. Foyle College traces its origins back to the free grammar school in Society Street in 1617 and today is an amalgamation of three city educational establishments. Its famous alumni have ranged from Percy French to Amanda Burton with a lot of lesser known but key historical figures in between.

Sean McMahon spent a lifetime as a local teacher and was heavily involved in local theatre and drama. He has since forged another career for himself as one of the most prolific authors on history and literature in the country and is currently working on his 74th book.
