Information event

St Columb’s Park House is coordinating a European project, with Derry City Council and Valetta Local Council, Malta, to give young people from all walks of life an opportunity to learn more about decision-making in society.

The project will include a week-long exchange visit from Malta in August with a return trip from Northern Ireland to Valetta in September 2014. It will help young people to record their personal learning through use of video diaries and research into issues around environment, culture, social inclusion and democratic processes.

All participants will be aged 18 to 25 years and will need a current passport.

An information evening will be held at St Columb’s Park House, St Columb’s Park, 4 Limavady Road, Londonderry at 6pm tonight, Wednesday, July 9.

The Summer Issue of Waterside Voices is now on sale. It is being marketed as a ‘Special Pictorial Issue (No.3) and contains photographs taken over 10 years of the pictorial issues.Copies of Waterside Voices is available at all Waterside newsagents as well as at Strathfoyle, Caw, Prehen, Drumahoe and Eglinton. On the Cityside it is available in Easons, Shipquay Books, Greenhaw, Galliagh and Garden City.

Flag Day

Macmillan Cancer Support would like to thank everyone who supported the Annual Flag Day in Ballykelly on Saturday June 28. The Flag Day was a tremendous success and Macmillan Cancer Support raised £1013.40. Macmillan would like to thank all the helpers on the day and all those people who give so generously. All funds raised will support people living with cancer in the North West.

Clooney Estate Residents’ Association, Lincoln Courts Youth and Community Association and Bonds Street Community Association have released details of their joint Community Festival Timetable.

The events are as follows: Wednesday, July 9: 9am ­to 10am, Boot Camp, £1 per person. Suitable for all ages and abilities. Children welcome if accompanied by an adult. To book a place contact the community centre at one of the phone numbers below; 10am ­to 2pm, soccer school/multi­skills. There are 60 places for boys and girls. Book a place by telephone; 2pm ­ to 6pm, Fun Day with family barbecue, balloons, face painting, all £1. Activities and inflatables are free of charge.

Thursday, July 10: 9am to­ 10am, Boot Camp, £1; 10am to 2pm, soccer school/multi­skills; 2pm to 3pm, Magic Show with Colin Parkhill; 3pm ­to 5pm, family disco with family barbecue, balloon modelling, face painting, and a visit by Funky Friends characters; 7pm ­to 8pm, line dancing with Jordan O’Keefe.

Friday, July 11: 9am to­ 10am, Bootcamp, £1; 10am ­to 2pm, Soccer School; 2pm ­to 6pm, Fun Day with Bands Forum Exhibition and music and dance workshops; 6pm ­to 10pm, Toni Leigh Moore and live bands performance; 10.45pm ­to 11pm, fireworks display.

Summer Camp

This year’s Kids Summer Camp at Bready Cricket Club will take place from Monday, July 21 to Friday, July 25. With children of primary school age involved from 11am to 1pm each day, and secondary school age from 2pm to 4pm each day. This will be led by the club overseas player coach, Ernest Kemm, who will be assisted by the club coaches.

Registration is £15 for each child and registration forms are available on Friday night or are available at reception. Family registration is £30. The cost includes a barbecue on the Friday evening.

Magheramason Community Development Association will host a barbecue with live music on Friday, July 11, at 7.30pm until 11pm. Admission is free and all age groups are welcome.

Screening clinic

CRY will host a screening clinic at Foyle College on JUly 26 and 27. Go onto CRY website and look under the screening tab to book a place. Bookings are open to anyone over the age of 14 and is free of charge.

Largy Presbyterian Church will be holding a new and nearly new sale in Market Street, Limavady, from Tuesday (July 15) to Saturday (July 19) next door to Menary’s.

Opening hours will be from 10am to 4.30pm on each day.

Fun Day

Foyle Search & Rescue

One Big Fun Day: Foyle Search and Rescue, in association with One Big Fundraiser, will host a family fun day on Sunday, August 3 from 1pm at Prehen pitches.

Gate admission is free but a smalldonation will be required to use the inflatables.

Attractions include a bouncy castle, obstacle course, wreaking ball, gladiator dual, sumo suits, a rock and roll rider, face painting, a barbecue, ice-cream and music.

Demonstrations include water safety, throw lines, knot tying and an abseil
