Community prays as man ‘remains in critical condition’ after farm accident

An NI man remains in a critical condition in hospital after an accident on a farm.

The man was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast after the incident at a farm on Moodage Road, Tandragee.

The NI Ambulance Service said it received a 999 call on Wednesday (August 12) at 5.10pm and despatched an emergency crew to the scene. The patient was taken to the RVH via ambulance.

It is understood the farmer, who is in his 40s, received extensive injuries.

A spokesperson for the RVH described his condition today (Monday) as ‘critical’.

DUP MLA William Irwin, who knows the injured man personally, extended his best wishes in what he hopes will be a full and speedy recovery.

“I have been speaking to the family and have relayed my thoughts and prayers at this difficult and deeply anxious time.

“It is a traumatic and uncertain time for this family as they wait on news from the surgeons and doctors at the hospital.

“The entire community around Tandragee and further afield are hoping for improving news over the next few days.

“This gentleman aside from his farming duties was deeply involved in many community activities across the district and news of his accident has come as a great shock to many.

“I have known him for some years and he is a hard working individual and a real family man and I know a great many people will be supporting him through this difficult period of recovery and recuperation”

A spokesperson for the NI Ambulance Service sadi: “The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 17.10 on Wednesday, 12 August 2020 following reports of an incident at Moodage Road,Tandragee.

“NIAS despatched one Emergency crew to the scene.

Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, one patient was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast by ambulance.
