Community service for breaking man's jaw with one punch

A CRAIGAVON man who punched another man, resulting in a broken jaw, has been ordered at Craigavon Magistrates Court to do 100 hours of community service.

District Judge Alan White imposed a Combination Order on David Harper (26), of Clonmeen, Drumgor, who was also placed on Probation for 12 months.

Mr White also ordered Harper to pay 250 to the victim of the assault which took place on June 30 last. Harper admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm.

A Public Prosecutions Service lawyer said the victim received treatment in Craigavon Area Hospital.

Defending solicitor Mr Conor Downey, said it was one punch, committed because Harper had been angry at the behaviour of the injured party.

“He realises he should not have reacted in the way he did,” said Mr Downey.
