A Lurgan man who was abusive to police was given 100 hours community service last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court for a disorderly behaviour offence.

He was 18 year old Caelon Oliver Robert Curry, Soye Gardens, Lurgan.

The court heard that on December 7 last year police saw the defendant with two other males tying something to the security fence at Lurgan police station.

They walked off and Curry started to sing and shout at police. He said: “Ronan Kerr, he’s blown up everywhere.” He also called police ‘black b—ds’.

When police tried to deal with the matter by way of a fine Curry said: “Nah, take me to f—king court. I’m not paying a fine.”

The case had been adjourned from a previous court to see if the defendant was suitable for community service. It was confirmed he was
suitable.

District Judge, Mr Mervyn Bates, warned Curry that if this kind of behaviour continued he would be looking at something different than community service the next time.
