Community service order is revoked

A community service order imposed on a Lurgan man was revoked last Friday at Craigavon Magistrates Court and replaced
with a suspended sentence.

Kevin Anthony David O’Hare (25), whose address was given to the court as Wellington Street, Lurgan, had been convicted of a charge of criminal
damage at the court on January 9 this year.

He had broken a window in a bar in Edward Street after a disagreement with staff.

For this he was sentenced to 175 hours community service.

Friday’s court heard that he had only completed 24 and a half hours and the probation service applied to have the order revoked.

A barrister representing O’Hare said he had managed to stay out of trouble and was now working full time.

He was no longer taking alcohol or drugs.

Revoking the order District Judge, Mr Mervyn Bates, said the defendant no longer had the time to fit it in.

He replaced the order with a four month prison sentence, suspended for 12 months.
