Company is on award shortlist

A local engineering company has been shortlisted for an influential national award, going head-to-head with manufacturing giants such as Hitachi, LG and Mitsubishi.

Warmflow, which delivers high quality home heating products, has been named as a finalist in the National ACR and Heat Pump Awards with its Ground Source Heat Pump.

The local company will face competition from nine other businesses in the Heat Pump Category when the finals were due to take place on Thursday January 28 in Birmingham.

Warmflow Managing Director, Stuart Cousins, says to be shortlisted is no mean feat: “This is our first heat pump so for it to have been recognised alongside long-established and internationally respected manufacturers is testament to our team of local engineers.

“Our heat pump system harnesses natural heat from deep underground by pumping cold water through it. The pump then increases the temperature and this is used to provide home heating or hot water. This naturally warmed water can be stored in a hot water system until it’s needed.

“With our heat pump for every kilowatt of electricity that you spend, you will get 5 kilowatts of heat out- it works out about 508% efficiency.

“In comparison, for every kilowatt of electricity you use in your immersion heater, you get 1 kilowatt of heat. Our Ground Source Pump is the most efficient in Europe. ”
