Compass needs volunteers

COMPASS Advocacy Network are in urgent need of volunteers to help in their Charity Shop Can Can Bazaar, which is sister project to Can Can Recycling, also based in the town. Can Can Bazaar is situated in Main Street, Ballymoney.

Hazel Grahem Shop manager from the shop said: "Can Can Bazaar is far from your usual charity shop – it is so much more than that. Yes, it generates money for Compass but more importantly, it provides placement opportunities for people with learning disabilities in the local area

"This gives people who often have limited social opportunities the chance to work in a retail environment, meeting the public and performing a valuable role within the community. We encourage our trainees to take part in all aspects of running the shop but we need volunteers to support them and to help them build their confidence and self-esteem! All of our projects operate on a can do ethos and we aim to provide our members with the best and most appropriate level of support to enable them to reach their full potential."

Hazel continued: "If you are retired, in-between jobs, are looking to get back to work and would like to enhance your CV, a student looking for work experience or maybe you have a few hours to spare while your children are at school, we would love to hear from you! We can offer our volunteers the chance to be part of a unique organisation, we will provide training and we also pay travel and out of pocket expenses"
