Competition ‘kindles’ interest in recycling!

MOYLE District Council, in conjunction with ERP UK which is one of the UK’s leading waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and batteries recycling schemes, ran a competition recently at the Council’s Civic Amenity Site on the Moyarget Road, Ballycastle.

For every electrical item brought in for recycling each person was entered into a free draw to win a Kindle.

The draw was made and the two lucky winners were, Mr John Nolan and Mrs Sue Moore, who were both delighted to receive their Kindles.

Thank you to everyone who recycled their unwanted electrical items and also the staff, Mr John Brennan and Mr Maurice McCambridge at the Amenity Site for issuing the tickets for the draw.

“Producers of electronic goods and batteries work with registered recycling schemes, such as ERP, to collect and treat WEEE and batteries on their behalf,” said Charlotte Budd, Regional Account
manager, ERP/

“ERP members include Electrolux, Hewlett Packard, Microsoft, Procter & Gamble, Samsung and Sony. ERP has worked with all of the Northern Ireland Councils since the start-up of the WEEE Directive in 2007, collecting in excess of 50,000 tonnes of WEEE and household batteries from the region during this time.”
