The seven-year-old was announced last Wednesday as one of the 12 finalists in the The MAC’s A Masterpiece for The MAC competition.

The painting was one of a final 12 chosen from over 1,200 entries by school children from across Northern Ireland. The response from primary school children has been overwhelming this year, the second year The MAC has run the Northern Ireland-wide competition.

Clare Lawlor, from The MAC, travelled to the school to congratulate the winner and present Conan with his prize, an art box for use in class. The work will be featured in The MAC calendar and will also be included in a special exhibition at Belfast City Hall which opens on December 19.

The winning entries were selected by an expert judging panel which included leading artist Neil Shawcross and The MAC’s Learning and Participation Officer, Clare Lawlor.
