Concern over foul smell in Bleary area

It’s understood several attempts were made by Northern Ireland Water to desilt the lines and clear the sewers. A meeting was held at the site on Monday involving residents, a Northern Ireland Water (NIW) representative and MLA Carla Lockhart.

She said, “Residents had reported a foul sewage smell in the Markville area.

“The smell was emanating in houses in the development and residents have said this has been a reoccurring problem but has gotten worse in the past month. I have initiated investigations by NIW and had a site meeting to discuss the next course of action to try and get to the bottom of this problem. There is no doubt that there is an issue with the main sewer line. NIW will be camera surveying the area in the next week and we will hopefully get to the bottom of the situation.”
