Concern thanks Carrickfergus people for £30k support

The figure was revealed as Concern Worldwide extended thanks to the community for its support during 2015.

Peter Anderson, NI director of Concern (UK), commented: “Every day, more than 3,000 Concern staff are on the ground working hard to transform lives. However, that is only possible with your support - you make it happen. And last year alone, because of your generosity, we reached more people than ever – seven million people across 27 of the world’s poorest countries.

“Over the past twelve months we have achieved an extraordinary amount, responding to emergencies in South Sudan, Pakistan, Nepal and Syrian, while our nutrition, health, education and livelihoods programmes continue to deliver real transformative change for many vulnerable people. None of this would happen without your help.”

Noting that a total of £28,661 came from Carrickfergus for the charity’s work in 2015, Mr Anderson continued: “To local volunteers and members of the Carrick support group, I would like to offer a special word of thanks. Your continued dedication and commitment is really appreciated.

“Whether it’s a farmer in Africa who can’t grow enough to feed his or her family, mothers who cannot access basic healthcare and nutrition for their children or families forced to flee their home in the wake of devastating conflict or disaster, because of you, Concern is there saving and transforming lives – and building a better tomorrow, today.”
