Concerns over localbonfire

Coleraine Borough Council has written to groups and businesses in the Articlave area expressing concerns about a bonfire erected at Woodend Park.

In the letter, Chief Executive, Kieran Doherty, has appealed that dangerous materials in the bonfire “must be removed for the sake of the wellbeing of the community and the local environment.

“We recognise that the bonfire is now in a safer location than in previous years, which is to be welcomed,” Mr Doherty said.

Appealing directly to local people, he says: “I would ask you to use any influence you have within the community to find a resolution to this.

“The dangerous materials currently on the bonfire must be removed for the sake of the wellbeing of the community and the local environment, however this can only be achieved with the support of the entire Articlave community.”

He appealed that anyone who can help with the matter to contact Council.
