Concert to raise funds for Dean Good memorial
Dean George Good had a long association with St Columb’s Cathedral as Dean in the most turbulent years of the Troubles. He passed away in March this year.
Although he retired from service in 1984 and spent the remaining years of his life at Portnoo in County Donegal, he still maintained heavy links with the city.

He was also an avid sportsman and achieved degrees of excellence as a sailor and a golfer. He was still playing golf into his 80s.
Plans are now afoot to raise money to erect a stained glass window in memory of his life, service to the Church of Ireland and the many charitable actions he carried out without fanfare or widespread recognition.
The concert will begin at 7.30pm in the old Clondermot School.

The club still thrives today and is led by led by Jeanette Warke who said: “He was the reason the Cathedral Youth Club was set up in the first place. He gave so much to the city. People talk about community relations now-for him it made no difference if you were a Roman Catholic or a Protestant, his door was always open.”
