Concrete firm has '˜vision of expansion'

Economy minister Simon Hamilton visited Moore Concrete Products to view ongoing progress at their Broughshane factory.

Afterwards he spoke highly of the firm’s commitment to training: “Firms like Moore Concrete demonstrate that ongoing skills development are an elevator to economic prosperity and social inclusion and I am determined that we continue to build upon the progress already made and use skills to change lives and transform our economy.”

Wilbert Moore, managing director of the precast manufacturer, thanked the Minister and said he envisaged further expansion of the business: “Innovation and adding value are key hallmarks of the business. We have achieved this by investing heavily in the Moore Concrete workforce. Training and ongoing skills development are fundamental drivers within the company.”

Moore Concrete have invested £2m in expanded manufacturing facilities since 2012 allowing them to secure a number of larger scale contracts, particularly within the transport and marine sectors.

The firm currently employs 125 people with staffing levels having increased by 25% since the beginning of 2016. The company recorded a turnover of £8.1m in 2014/15

Mr. Moore continued: “Minister Hamilton’s personal commitment to pushing forward with strategies that will help boost the local economy are well recognised.

“It is crucially important for the Stormont Executive to have a strong ‘open for business’ agenda, where the economy of Northern Ireland is concerned.”
