Confusion over insurance

Although he was covered by insurance to drive other vehicles a 35-year-old man was not covered for another vehicle he owned.

Marcim Slawomir Pazera, Bluestone Hall, Craigavon, was fined £200 last Friday at the local court for driving without insurance on January 27 this year.

He was also given six points and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

The court heard that he was driving on the Mahon Road in Portadown and stopped at business premises.

He confirmed to police he was the owner of the car and that he had another car. He was insured to drive any vehicle.

A barrister representing the defendant said his client was insured to drive other cars but not one belonging to him.

District Judge, Mr Mervyn Bates, said it was a common and understandable mistake.
