Conneff and White stop off at the Bronte

DON'T miss the opportunity to hear Kevin Conneff of Chieftains fame and guitarist Jeff White, when they play the Bronte Music Club this Saturday, June 12.

Both music stalwarts will make the Rathfriland venue their only appearance in Northern Ireland, as part of a whistlestop tour.

Kevin, the voice and rhythm of the Chieftains, joined the group in 1976 replacing Peadar Mercier.

He was asked by Paddy to record a couple of tracks with The Chieftains in London for ‘Bonaparte’s Retreat’, and became a permanent member soon after.

Kevin’s singing is in the old style which reflects interpretation and is generally unaccompanied. On the bodhran, he can demonstrate a subtle rhythm or really heat things up. Kevin has three children and lives in Wicklow with his partner Jean.

Jeff White has spent years as sideman for the likes of Vince Gill, Alison Krauss and Tim O’Brien. Whites rolling guitar is energetic and filled with earthy bluegrass zest.

He surrounds himself with top-level players like dobro guitar player Jerry Douglas and Banjo player Peter Wernick.
